I live in a rather rural area, but I once lived in the middle of nowhere.

A high school senior, a girl, I knew called me and asked me to come to her air since she had been in an auto accident. It turns out she had just slid off the road due to some ice and into a ditch. This was about 1/2 a mile from the house.

When I got there a guy was holding her at gunpoint. It turns out he just knew she was drunk and was holding her for the Police. I pointed out she was 17 years old and quite sober, and did he not see that the road was covered with ice?

This meant nothing to him. He was doing his duty and said he would gladly shoot me if he had to. So I asked him what his solution was and he said we would wait for a Cop to drive by. This could take several hours, but he did not care. I forgot to tell him that I had called the Police before I left the house and they were on their way.

When the Cop showed up he was not amused. He had a conversation with the Hero and pointed out to him that if he did not put the gun away the Cop would drop him in his tracks. The guy said he would never put his gun away. He was protecting the citizens of the area.

The Cop finally had to point out he was going to arrest the guy if he did not hit the road right away, so he left. We thought it was odd he did not worry about being shot, but he was worried about being arrested. The Cop and I then pulled the girl out of the ditch.

So if you want my opinion of if we should just let concerned armed citizens take over protecting large events, I think my answer would be something like.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, and with good reason. I just wanted to share a real life experience with one of these good hearted enforcers of the public morals.

No cop has ever shot anyone that wasn't a bad guy. Ever. Magical badges are only bestowed upon anointed Paladins.

Most Cops, when they have a gun pointed at them, shoot first and ask questions later.

But the fellow we were dealing with was a back country good 'ol boy who really thought he was doing the right thing. I think most folks would say he was delusional.

And if a 'come one, come all' invite was issued to folks like this to 'protect' a large event it is a sure thing they would show up.

You never know when someone is going to need to be put into their place, and this guy was eager to do some putting.

You should share this experience with Wayne LaPierre ~ maybe he can include this 'feel good' story of an armed citizen doing his good deed in the next Crime Strike episode.

Political blindness is an unbelievable thing. No rational person NOT blinded by their political ideology would believe that turning the citizens loose with firearms on a manhunt would be a good thing.

Some people's politics are making them completely blind to what happened in the interview. For those blinded by their politics or their love for DiFi, I will interpret for you.

Wallace was asking about what people in Boston, unarmed due to their gun laws, would do to defend themselves in such a situation. DiFi, instead of answering the question, started in on her mission to outlaw "assault weapons." In the course of her idiotic reply, managed to fool even some of the intelligent people here, into thinking that Wallace was proposing that the citizens of Boston form vigilante groups.

I don't know which is more pathetic, her ridiculous response or the blind liberals inability to see past her deception due to their liberal blindness.

Larry, this is SOP. Remove your partisan glasses and watch GOP pols at work. If you ignore the topic and just watch the argument, you will see there is no significant difference.

I fully understand that, but it does not stop me from pointing out when the other side has on THEIR glasses.
