2000 c280 unable to shift out of PARK

2000 c280 unable to shift out of PARK
turned key on, engine started normal pressed on brake pedal and BAS/ESP light came on and dreaded moment of inability to shift from P. turned car on and off few times but no success. googled and got to know other people misery who talked about brake light switch. after reading other people experience, i tried again and wallah, it worked and came home. do i need to do anything or it was just first and last time and solitary experience? please advise

sounds like you answered your own question. but just in case, i would carry 500lbs of sand in the trunk. pool sand to be exact. oh and get some 16d nails while your at it.
