5-year-old boy shoots 2-year-old sister in Ky.

5-year-old boy shoots 2-year-old sister in Ky.

I feel horrible for the little girl who died and the little boy who will have to live the rest of his life knowing that he killed his sister.

The parent on the other hand should be locked up for accessory to homicide as far as I am concerned. Going to let your kids use guns. Fine, no problem, But you dam well better make sure they are supervised and the guns are handled properly which obviously was not done in this case. The kids a minor. The parents are responsible for his actions.

The remaining brother should go to a family member or foster care.

If guns are accesable in a household kids will find them and play with them has to be a given. It takes major effort to make gun storage childproof. A simple locked cabinet is really not enough.

The parents are idiots - plain and simple. Why do you give a 5yo a gun first off? And then don't check and make sure it is unloaded/stored safely.

This takes stupidty to a whole new level.

What kind of moron gives a 5 year old his own gun?
More ammo for the anti-gun crowd. Great.

i got my dads .22 rifle handed down to me when i was 5.but back then to get handgun ammo(which .22 were considered) you had to be 21 and sign for it.so when we would go out shooting we would go buy a box or 2 of shells and go shooting until they were all gone and go home.that gun sat in the hall closet next to a 12 gauge shotgun,it was a remington speedmaster that broke down into 3 pieces in about 5 seconds or less.and i could tear it down when i was 5.i think the thing here is it said the boy was "playing" with it.that is one thing i never did was play with it,i had toy cap guns for that.you need to respect guns and playing with them is not respecting them.

I don't know. Why would you want to blame them?

We should combat that cynical mentality by ignoring tragedy.

I can't recall how old I was, but I was permitted my own gun when I was old enough to load it properly.

I still remember how cool I thought it was when I found out how to double-load it.

Of course my allowance didn't go as far when I started going through twice as many cap rolls in every gun battle...

Who needed the gun?!? I would just buy the cap rolls and whack each raised dot section with the tip of a pointy rock! Pure entertainment!
