Just picked up a 2007 Lincoln town car haha

Signature series with a carriage roof. Baby blue with taupe leather. New michelins but missing Center caps. Cold air and everything works. 1 owner with 260k miles. Runs and drives like a ......big ass town car..dream

I got it for 3800. Probably just gonna sell it... Anybody had one of these boats? How is this 4.6 v8? Runs perfect right now

Dead reliable. I have owned several Police Interceptors.

But with 260,000, I wouldn't hold on to it for much longer

Good cars but I agree with littlehandegan. At 260K miles it's time to dump it and quickly. When the 4.6L starts to go, it goes all at once.

Well maintained, they'll easily get 350,000 miles and up. My uncle has that engine in his truck, and has got 400K and still going strong...but his is very well maintained.

If the history is choppy, I'd look to unload it.

I've never seen any evidence of a Modular V8 "going all at once." If you're selling it anyway it doesn't matter. That will make a very sellable Ghetto Cruiser.

The Modular V8's are quite good. The only Achilles heels that is commonly known is the 3 1/2 threads in the spark plug holes. Since the heads are aluminum, you must be very careful when changing them.

Procedure:

Engine must be DEAD COLD
make sure you have the exact correct part number plug
Put a VERY light coat of copper based anti seize on the threads only.
Torque them to 13 foot pounds.

If you follow this procedure you will have no trouble.

I have heard about the plugs. My dad dealt with it in his f150. The car came from my company and it was maintained well. I know it has new intake manifold as of last week. I got a stack of paperwork to go thru. It is super ghetto. Thro some 24 on that mother and a bass boat paintjob

Don't see much profit to be had there if its a flip. I have an 03 with 67000 miles that I paid $5000 for and only needed $300 in detaining odds and ends to be front line ready.

Great cars though. I daily drive a 93.

Several, if you include the POS Cadillacs.

Without any records, you're driving a land mine that will blow up costing you lots of $s. BTDT

I don't know how much over "3800" you're going to get for it though.

^^^Of course it may not be reasonable to conclude that this particular generation Lincoln is a "land mine" based on your experiences with the brand 40 years ago.

I wonder if I can remove this carriage roof crap? This thing hits the road right. I may be Parkin the 240 for a few weeks. I am enjoying this ride. I need to dig out my tobacco pipe.

Doubtful, without paint work after doing so.

Oh, they hit the road right -they also hit the wallet hard when they start falling apart. Ask me how I know.

I concur with Tyler on not seeing much if any profit on something with 260K miles on it, for what you paid. BTDT, with a similar G.C. that had 269K on it.

Aren't they glued on? Be ready to grind off a lot of old adhesive and repaint. I would just own the roof and don a powder blue sport jacket and 1975-era Elvis sunglasses whenever I got behind the wheel.

The vinyl tops originally were installed on cars that the lead joint between the roof and body were too bad to smooth out easily so taking one off is asking for trouble....that said, I'd prolly have to take it off too!
