For you w123 fanatics...

I stumbled across this pic over the weekend - at first, I thought I'd made the greatest discovery since the new world; one that would bring me much fame and fortune...alas, it turns out it was just the placement of the pic over 2 pages, and I'm a bigger fool than I initially thought...(not always a bad deal either).

Either way, I still think it looks cool and is worth sharing (and I kinda, sorta wish this is how US stock w123 headlights looked)...

all my life I was accustomed to european headlamp shapes of mercedes benz cars. I liked every model of them.

till I came to the US to see what I call ugly headlamps. I mean why?? The MB designs are timeless - they are not chevys.

Agreed - growing up we had a '78 230 with the dual rounded lens and I thought those headlights were somewhat odd looking - until I saw the US version. The 5mph bumpers on their own are not that ugly, but with the US lights, it just makes for a fugly combination.

Indeed, that is an interesting look for the w123. I always wondered if there was a way to fabricate the earlier w126 sealed beams into a w123 facia...seems the squarish lights would flow much nicer with the late w123 euro styling.

I think the only challenge would be fabricating the w123 headlight 'door' around the early w126 sealed beams...
