Although a conservative is fundamentally wedded to the "status quo" and any change is not desirable, this is diametrically opposite the conservative position whereby an individual's right is highly valued and not to be interfered with by the government.

In similar manner to the desire of the government to avoid disturbing the individual's right to own guns, a conservative should not be opposed to an individual's right to have a partner of any sex.

However, we see all the "conservatives" stand up with "moral" objections to such legislation, despite the fact that it doesn't affect them in any manner.
