What car, makes all the difference. My car I'd go gold/bronze BBS (if I could afford it!) but it definitely wouldn't work on any car.

I've always been partial to steel with a white stripe. I'd always been a fan of the 4-8-4 layout, but recently I've been drawn to a few others. 2-8-0's and 2-8-2's, 0-6-0, 2-6-0... It would help to know your intended application.
