Any Diesel Owners From the Chicago Burbs?

Hi all,

Just curious if we had any diesel owners from the Chicago burbs. I'm in the northwest Chicago suburbs and quite frankly, don't know anyone local that has a Merc diesel.

If you're from the Chicago burbs, let me know. Always looking to meet up, swap parts, discuss tech etc.

Thanks,

Curt

Hey! I'm in Elk Grove Village. Driving a dirty 85 w123 300d. With the same screen name I post on superturbodiesel a lot. Owned mine for about a year and a half and love it.

I asked the same question a while ago. Didn't get any responses.

I'm in Itasca!! Cool beans. Do a search on facebook for Midwest W123. I started a group hoping some folks would find it.

Not from the area but I'll be at a supplier meeting at the Eaglewood in Itasca tomorrow afternoon through Wed AM.

Well, there's a Chipotle and a Panda Express right down the street. Also a Home Run Inn pizza. Enjoy!

Greely, looking at your WTB list it seems we have something in common. A want for a 3" downpipe. I've been thinking about building one. Once I get mine built I'll let you have a look and we might be able to put one together for you.

Woot! Sorry was at a wedding today.

Curt I just got one installed a few days ago. I should update my list. I'm not 100% happy with my setup but anything is better than what I had.

Swamp, curt, we gotta have a small get together. I don't work (college/military). I'm pretty much free whenever.

There's a classic car meet at the Buona Beef in Itasca off Thorndale and Arlington Heights rd. I've threatening to crash for a while. It starts at 6 on Saturdays. We should meet up there.

Where'd you get the downpipe? Any noticeable difference?

You might try posting in Diesel Discussion -- I believe that there are some members who do not venture into OD .

Sorry guys, didn't see this until today. It was a bit of a whirlwind trip, anyway. Not a lot of free-time to ourselves, otherwise I would have looked forward to a GTG.

Our group did spend a few hours on Tuesday after our morning meetings and before our group dinner at the new K1 Speed indoor kart track in Addison as a team building exercise. Had a great time! They were still running the gas-powered karts but have the new electric ones expected in soon. My issue was getting into the kart and having about a 100 lb. handicap over the young bucks in our group turning in the best track times. Once I lost forward momentum it took a long time to build up steam again. I may have accidentally put a couple of them into the wall...

No worries mate. I have a few friends that frequent that place. Never been there personally. I've been threatening the wife that I want to go there for months. Perhaps it's time.

We had a great time. I think the same group owns the one in Buffalo Grove, the Addison one just recently opened. They were still painting and setting up the second track while we were there!

I would have loved to try the electric carts, I think they would have greatly benefited me. The limited torque of the gas engines made for some slow acceleration once I lost momentum. The instant torque with the electric ought to reduce that lag quite a bit.

The next rainy day would certainly be a good excuse to make a visit.
