Having been browsing for a bit. New guy here did not see a introduction page . So here goes new to MB diesels.
Picked up a 86 300sdl blowing black smoke yesterday . I made it home ( kansas city and a tad bit north and east ) from OKC late last night .
It had blown out the center of 2 glow plugs on the way home . Not a happy drive to say the least .No over heating hard to start . Should have taken a trailer . And another lesson learned .
Thankfully family's every couple hours apart along the way. Will need to fix it quick . Rides better than a 62 deuce and a quarter .

Cool site . lots to learn .
Looking at doing a diesel purge this week first off as been sitting for a bit .

Hiya Dr Mac, welcome to the club.
You will want to visit the diesel discussion area, great folks with a seemingly endless reserve of knowledge and patience.

Should put valve adjustment on your list.

Best of luck with your new acquisition!!

No valve adjustment on that engine (I believe). Do you mean that the cylinder was open to atmosphere thru the glow plug? Haven't heard of that before.
