My best man is gone

A very very good friend who was my best man on my second (the good one) marriage, was found dead today. No details as yet. He suffered from bi-polar syndrome though and had trouble just keeping it all together in life.

One of the most creative Architects I knew but took three years to pass his last Structures class at BSU. He was massively talented in some areas very weak in others....of course at that time his Bi-polar was undiagnosed....heck it wasn't even called that yet.

A really really nice guy though, well loved by all who knew him.

He recently found Jesus. Last time I talked to him he talked quite a while about that. I am glad for him.

I will miss him though.

I hope he is in a better place Tom. At least his disorder is no longer a concern for him. Sounds like he got out quickly as well. There is something to be said for that as a positive.

You will probably reflect on your interaction with him from time to time over the future years. It must be getting on two years now that my local friend passed. I still find myself thinking of him periodically.

It is never nice to see anyone experience the loss of a friend. Usually we have only a few at best really.

I'm sorry to hear that. Even though I'm only 17, I've been to ten funerals, some for good friends, so (in a way) I can "sort of" understand, though I've never lost a good friend. I remember that when my uncle was found dead in his apartment, my mother and her brother's family (as well as a kind neighbor who lived right next to my uncle's) were really affected by realizing that tomorrow is not guaranteed (being 17, so I didn't feel that quite as much...). How is this affecting you? How are doing with it?

I'm so glad to hear that he found Jesus -- that is wonderful.

Well, at my age I have attended quite a few funerals. I cannot think of anybody so close to my age though. He was a year older. We had not stayed really close though he had called in the last month. With his disorder I have been preparing myself for this eventuality for about the last 20 years.

I think most folks my age don't fear death, we just hope not to suffer too much.

By this age most of us have done most of what we wanted to or have given up as unrealistic on that which we have not. Not that that is a bad thing. One of the best ways to be happy is to want the life you have.

I'd say that for the most part I do.
