Looks great - pretty amazing for the price - what are you going to do with it?

I read about it in the NYT a few months ago. I was going to order a kit, but they were out of stock.

I've been meaning to get one to make a vpn server for home. But before I do that I need to get a switch and proper wireless AP

If you don't need the extra outputs, similar usb thumb stick drives go for ~$25-$50 and can be powered from a wall-wart.

I've been meaning to get a pi to fool around with...no particular reason other than to tinker.

Fascinating little computers. I've been wanting one for a while. I'd like to rig one up in the car with a wireless adapter that would connect to my home network when I was in range and then, I could move files to and from a hard drive mounted in the car and change up my .mp3 files from my home computer.

Going by the specs could it really play HD?

Stretch 06-07-2013 05:35 AM

Well there's HD and HD...

cornemuse 06-07-2013 12:38 PM

Havent figured out what to do w/ it. Yet. Its a fairly cheap toy for me. Geeky, yes. However, I ran bulldozers & backhoes for 40+ years before I retired, but still have my 'Epson HX-20', one of the very first laptop computers, and still have my Timex-Sinclair Z-80 computer - somewhere. I'm a hoarder! I have a '64 Porsche 356 hardtop cab. which has been parked for 30+ years, & a 1950 MB 170 D parked for over 10 years. (both garaged) I want to get the 356 back on the road but the 170 is in the way. So it goes

Should be ok in H.264 format. They actually have a good little GPU.

Do you chaps (who happen to keep a closer eye on technology than I) happen to know of a nice little data acquisition board (sound card) that could be plugged into one of these gucci little computers?

daw_two 06-08-2013 09:57 AM

Timex-Sinclair Z-80.............ah, yes. Those were the days. Using the TV as the screen, correct? And using a cassette tape recorder to store BASIC programs.

You'll probably need a USB sound card and then probably to do that a standalone powered USB hub
