Wanna own an FM radio station? LPFM

LPFM Will Likely Fail Again, Unfortunately

Quote:
LPFM stations, with liberalized rules that allow them to accept commercial sponsors and band together, could provide a dynamic alternative to the current music and radio broadcast landscape. After a decade of filings, notices, and rule changes, the FCC and the activists will have LPFM is right back where it started—small, isolated, and rare.
Yes, the people can own radio stations, just don't make money with them. The free market in action, gotta love it.

Perhaps this will prove that there is no market for the FM spectrum and it can then be sold off to the Media Conglomerates and used to support more Smart Phones. Smart Phones, far more intrusive than slave cards.

Remember the "Fairness Doctrine"? Your tax dollars at work.

I listen to FM all day, KISW is pretty good. Of course, if you listen via their app, you get the non-FCC version.

I pass through an area of LPFM service on my daily comute. 107.9mhz. Something like 125 watt station. Music style varies day-to-day. Sometimes Motown, sometimes British, sometimes general oldies, sometimes stuff going back into the 50's a bit. Really enjoyable to hear some nearly never played stuff from the 60's again on the radio. Great fun for morning drive to have practically no interuptions for whatever. Most days when I am not in the broadcast area, I'm yelling at the DJs to "shut up and play music!" Then I give up and pop in a cassette (or CD or turn on the MP3 player)
