Al Qaeda growing, but less focused on US, study finds - CSMonitor.com

Air&Road 07-23-2013 10:02 AM

Well, no one should be surprised. With the MSM spending almost all their time on things like the George Zimmerman case, how can we expect everyone to be informed about important things such as this?

If the MSM WERE to focus on the important current issues, it would put their guy in a bad light. Can't have that.

MTI 07-23-2013 10:10 AM

CSM . . . part of the mainstream media, or not?

This is the part that I never can understand: Righties moaning and groaning about how news is suppressed by the MSM. Just how exactly did they become aware of the issue purportedly being suppressed? Flake-job blogs and Pollyannaesque chain emails can only go so far.

engatwork 07-23-2013 11:40 AM

I have not seen Paul's Dean mentioned lately.

Txjake 07-23-2013 12:52 PM

And now, we have the baby king to harp about.....useless **** clogs every path

MTI 07-23-2013 01:02 PM

If "mainstream media" is only the "news-a-tainment is on television . . . then some folks should consider adding more current events "fiber" to their diets. :D

Air&Road 07-23-2013 01:18 PM

Good point, but where will this fiber come from? Basically the broadcast MSM won't touch a story that is not on the wire. The newspapers ALSO get their stuff off the same wire.

SO, where is this objective news going to come from? I don't mean that to be an anatagonistic question. I SERIOUSLY want to see America on a diet of OBJECTIVE news reporting, but can't imagine where it could come from.

MTI 07-23-2013 01:39 PM

Frankly, I suggest a balanced diet. Read the WSJ & the NYT. New Republic and National Review. BBC World Service.

For some, it's as easy as using Google News, instead of a a specific news outlet's webpage.

Jim B. 07-23-2013 01:49 PM

Achtung!

I am having a special indoor BBQ in honor of the new Royal baby king.

The main course will be boiled placenta, served with sautéed mushrooms sautéed in lemon butter, and caramelized mushrooms.

engatwork 07-23-2013 01:50 PM

I read google news and southeastgeorgiatoday every morning for my news update.

Pravda ("Truth"). :)

P.C. 07-23-2013 01:54 PM

I do admit having concerns about al-...wait, the royal baby was born?

chilcutt 07-23-2013 01:58 PM

Have they selected a name for the baby yet?

P.C. 07-23-2013 02:03 PM

Think that they had to do a caesarean due to the crown?

Yeah, now THERE's a list of totally unbiased publications.

TwitchKitty 07-23-2013 02:50 PM

A little perspective on MSM history. Threatening the children with the boogie man whenever they get a little out of step is part of their bread and butter, standard opening move.

Dem boogie men always be ready to get dem bad chil'en.

Who told you there were unbiased publications? Have there ever been any? So, what's the problem with considering well written articles from both side of the spectrum and deciding for yourself, or are you one of those that needs to have his ideas pre-shaped for easy consumption?

Having trouble with reading comprehension today? Read post number 19. Go ahead, it should be easy enough to understand that even you will be able to get it.

MTI 07-23-2013 08:52 PM

My reading comprehension is fine. Care to explain your comment in #16, since it indicates you didn't grasp to concept of reading both the liberal and conservative points of view . . . you do know that the examples represent opposite points of view, right?

engatwork 07-23-2013 09:08 PM

:)

LOL - Who the heck is Paul's Dean? How did I mix that up with Paula Dean? Heckuva typo there now.

Botnst 07-23-2013 10:21 PM

I love it when we argue about arguing. That's a wonderfully entertaining spectacle.

My argument is more argumentative than your argument!

You need to quit before you get further behind. You are not understanding the written word today. Post #16 does NOT indicate that I did not understand what you were saying.

I know perfectly well what you're saying, read the spin from both sides and decide on which one you like. Bullshlt! I want objective news reporting so I can make up my own mind.

I'll give you an example of objective news reporting. How about direct, word for word quotes and leave the comments for the editorial pages? Then we both can decide and take from it what we wish.

Now, go do some studying and learn about reading comprehension.

Dubyagee 07-24-2013 08:46 AM

Guys guys. Why so serious? Ha
