Which you buy and why? 2014 Subaru Forester XT vs 2014 Mazda Grand Touring AWD
Just curious. We're thinking of buying one of these late this fall. I need something that will get me 30 miles in and out of DC in the snow and has more cargo space in the back.
Here's a link with details of the two: Subaru Forester vs Mazda CX-5 Price Comparison

Both great cars, I'd get the Mazda though. The Forester has gotten quite big and bloated. The Mazdas are still reasonably fun to drive for what they are. Have you considered an outback?

I admire the Forester for relative simplicity, durability, and versatility. I hear it also have a good ride, and now that it comes with a six-speed, I would definitely get it. Both cars are roughly the same size, and I would expect the Mazda to be sportier and the Forester to be better in bad weather...

Sheesh... from disagreeing with Tom in one thread to disagreeing in Tom with another... Tom, is there anything we can agree on?

Hunt for some of the CX5 reviews. It's on our short list for potential people haulers in the not too distant future. Sounds like a well executed piece of work.

You could pick up an old Country Squire or Colony Park for a lot cheaper and put some snow tires on it. Fuel economy won't be as good, but the difference in purchase price buys a lot of gas. You could also look at a 124 or 210 wagon. Available with 4matic in some cases.
