190LE at pick your part!?

I was at pick your part today and I saw a black 190e with grey cloth checkered interior. I wanted the seat really bad but someone had cut up the driver seat so I didn't bother. I was very interested since I have never seen this color combo before. I googled it and it turns out this combo was only available in the us on 190e 2.6 models, of which they only made 700.

I was not able to verify this Info since it was from Wikipedia. Can anyone verify this? If this is the case, will someone please buy this car and save it from the crusher.

Btw. I believe it was at the pick your part in Stanton. It was the southern most yard in Anaheim area.

I'm sure you can find a similar cloth seat from a Euro model even if it isn't identical.

One of my best friend nabbed a w201 190e in pearl black with the 2.6 engine, that he got with just 50k on the clock, about 4 years ago.

He uses it as a daily driver on the LA freeways, and I've ridden in it, it's a great little car. A very nice freeway flyer with the 2.6 engine, I think it's a 1991 model he has, but I'm not sure.

I used to hit pyp and pnp a lot in different cities in Texas. It was once common to see 108's, but that was twenty years ago.

The yard in south Dallas has also parted out a euro 6.9 and the one on 2dn ave. once had a very stripped 600 Pullman sitting in the yard. The south Dallas yard recently put a V-12 600 into the yard.

I guess it is all a case of if no one buys it to begin with they just toss it into the yard.

I have never seen a Porsche 911 in one of them, but 914's were once common and now and then a 944 and at one time a 928.

You just never know.

The used parts market is going to hell because of these yards. Future generations will be denied the merican dream of driving beaters.

I used to visit that PyP years ago. I found a 65k mile 190E there too. Grabbed the speedo assembly, and now it's in my 190E when the 223k odometer broke.

Are the door cards cloth? If you had a black interior the doors would still look cool.

This is my car, the pictures are pretty dark sorry

I THINK that a 91 model would have been a 2.8, but I'm not sure.

Many years ago I came close to buying a 190E, 2.6 with a five speed manual. I had no idea that they were that rare even with an automatic. The final straw that kept me from buying it was peering down between the fan and radiator. My 300E was plenty tight in that area when working on it, but the M103 in that chassis made it look IMPOSSIBLE.

Since when are 190E 2.6s rare with automatics?

The 2.8 M104 in 300Es was never put in w201s.

I'm sorry. I thought you meant that there were only 700 2.6 190E's period.

Was there never a 2.8 in a 201 car? I know there were some in 124's, so I assumed that they had been put in the 201's as well.

The W201 chassis 190E 2.6L Limited Edition was only sold in 1993, 700 units built, approximately one for each dealership. No engine upgrade over the stock 2.6L M103, but it did receive the Sportline option package suspension (slightly lowered, HD struts/shocks) and steering gear. It DID NOT come with a cloth interior, rather it had the very distinctive red panel inserts, headrests and door card piping; fake carbon fiber console trim and the rear trunk lid was "debadged" except for the center logo. The 2.3L Limited Edition was merely interior trim (leather and burlwood).

Thanks for the facts MTI. Somehow I thought the M104 had hit the 124/201 scene before that time. I stand corrected.
