Well, it didn't blow over today though it's been an interesting week, mostly on the down side.

My AAPL's up 20% this summer. Other than that I couldn't care less.

So you bought in the low 400s and can laugh at the muppets who bought it at 700.

"The frequency of technical issues affecting trading is a wake-up call to business leaders in capital markets," said Lev Lesokhin, executive vice president of Cast, a specialist in business software analysis. "They need to carefully scrutinize the structural integrity of their software systems."

As stated above - gentle wind testing a house of cards.

Nope. I bought the first half in the mid 20's and the second half in the high 20's and I can laugh at pretty much everybody who bought after about 91. I've participated in every Apple split. I doubt you were even sucking tlt then.

Well, I wasn't in the position to buy stocks, but I had graduated past the nip-sucker stage by the 90s :)

It's a nice place to be. It's a shltload of money, but it's utterly outside the loop of my finances. I am not planning on it for retirement as I am already comfortably semi-retired, don't need it to pay for the kids' college or a mortgage. I didn't earn the money I used for the original two buys and if it all took a crap tomorrow, life would go on without the slightest hiccup.

Any investment earnings that don't come from dividends (whether rent payments for property, actual dividends on stocks, or profits from a small business) are basically a gift from destiny, and can be lost just as easily. Enjoy them, but don't count on them :)

Flipping or day-trading can be profitable, but it's no way to live.
