Weed wacker
Has anyone used a 34V cordless trimmer. Got to buy one this weekend. Any suggestions?

I have a Ryobi cordless that I purchased last year. I can't recall the voltage, but it was the highest voltage available in the Ryobi line at the time. It's nice not to have to deal with gasoline, or the occasional irritation of starting a gas-powered model, but there is no free lunch. It uses the thinnest line available for trimmers (.065? It's blue in color) and unlike most gas-powered trimmers which have two cutting lines coming out of the spool, this one has just one line coming out. Makes felling a redwood tree a bit tedious, and if you are trimming up against something abrasive, such as a stone or brick wall, you will eat through this thin line quickly.
For small trimming jobs, it should work just fine, but it is not up to the heaviest jobs that a gas model could handle. |

Don't? I'd get a 4 stroke gas unit

Thanks for the info. I got a little less than a acre, with ivy encroaching every where. Cordless is out.

I have a Ryobi as well...and it sucks. I'm on my third battery in 2 years.
Just get a 2-cycle powered one...it's going to last much longer

Buy an echo or stihl unit. Keep stabil with ethanol treatment in the gas at all times and it will be pretty worry free

Try a Stihl 4-MIX, it's a 4-cycle engine that runs on mixed fuel. They're a little pricey, but probably the last one you'll ever have to buy. It has the emission qualities of a regular 4-stroke engine without the smell normally associated with a 2-stroke.
