Aston Martins will soon be powered by Mercedes-Benz V8s | Digital Trends

That’s right. According to Auto Express, Mercedes will be selling AMG turbo V8s, transmissions, and electrical bits, which will be fitted to the DB9 and V8 Vantage.
Will the "one man, one engine" philosophy at AMG carry over to having the signature on the engine over at AM?

I've driven a S550 with MB's non-AMG twin turbo 4.6 V8, other than losing a little purist/snob appeal, the average Aston owner probably won't have much to complain about.

Those AMG twin-turbo V8s are pretty potent - more-so than the current AM offerings.

IMO, the loss here will be sound. The AM sound is... Priceless.

Talks are at an early stage as the SUV won’t come to market for another three years and the British carmaker is still weighing whether to use its own technology to develop a crossover, one of the people said. AM is pretty broke so they need to update their dated drive line cheaply, hence the AMG buying spree.
