Looking for a tater chip truck

Im looking for a 70's thru 90's GMC 3/4 ton stepvan -with single rear wheels rather than the usual dually.
The chevy version was called a p20
The GMC im not sure if the were also P20- but were value van, grumman GMC etc. Some were aluminum, some steel -I prefer a straight axle with buggy springs, it must say GMC and 3/4 ton on the title, any leads appreciated.

Daw Two will definately see this, but the only ones he runs across are duallys with the cummins 4bt, An aluminum cummins powered one-with a 5 speed would be an unbelievable combo, but most have been scrapped- They are worth more scrapped/ salvaged than kept together.
Im looking for plain ole - any old drivetrain.

I have a painting contractor locally who has a little Grumman with a chevy straight six 235 IIRC from the sixties I think. He just keeps running it! Its practically jeep short but its big enough for his work. I love that little van and I love that he keeps using it!

I have a dually one for sale with a 4BT and Eaton 5speed transmission (Granny Low + 4; no overdrive). I've run across the smaller, short ones before, but they are very rare in these parts.

Check out the Hillco Real Estate site. They just acquired 3400 trucks from the old Hostess Brands company. Most of them are the larger dual wheel style but I know they had a bunch of the old E350's (Ford chassis) and GM P30's and P20's.

Hey panZZer ---

I can't recall seeing a non-dually model for sale. The dually Hostess trucks from the Little Rock, AR, plant were brought to Memphis and run through the car auction here. A scrap guy bought them, and dismantled them for scrap. I was lucky enough to buy one stepvan intact, plus three 4BT Cummins engines. I'm using the stepvan to store the engines. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Keep checking the local auctions and Craigslist if you want a non-dually, non diesel stepvan would be my suggestion.

I have a spare G-30 1 ton non-dually cube van similar to the one in the photo but WITHOUT the big ol 'window. It has a small window on one side and a spare door behind the passenger door. The box is integrated to the van and it runs well.

It has a GM 6.2 L HMMWV diesel, a THM 400 auto transwith large-size cooler (I added it). Good tires, brakes exhaust etc.

AND? 43,000 certified miles.

The vehicle was owned by the Michigan Air Guard, and they didn't know how to repair the starter (besides, it's a DIESEL ) so they stored it for several years inside. I pulled the starter and found a solenoid with parts disconnected on the inside.

I went to the NAPA store, replaced all fluids and oil, replaced the starter solenoid for 16.00 and VROOOOOOM.

I then took it to Mike Dewey's, a well-known AT rebuilder who's a personal friend. he went through it and added an HD trans cooler at my request, which he feels is overkill, but i don't care.

Right now I drive it once a week at the workshop, around town. about 18 mpg in town.

No rust but the paint is fading in some spots esp the hood.

I plan to repaint if i keep it. The inside is good too.

I have two of them, just put AC on that one.

The box in back is cavernous. Will barely hold a Citroen 2CV or a VW Beetle inside, in case you have no trailer

Does not have commercial plates, uses regular plates.

All things considered, I would sell for the right price, cash up front but only to a forum person. No third parties and not for resale, but to help someone out.

I don't need to feed it and I don't need to sell it, but I would consider.

You could fly in, and I would escort you to the Michigan SoS to get the title change, a temporary plate and you would be on your way.

BTW also has a spare tire and I would include a 3 ton jack and small tool kit, though everything works and the service manuals are free online, per the government contract

Pics are off of websites because I don't keep a lot of non-essential photos

yes I also got a spicer 4054d 5 speed similar to this , aluminum case non OD, and a bellhousing/ flywheel/ clutch / adaptor ring kit to bolt it to a Chevy v8, i guess the bell is a SAE #3

the ones in the c60 2 ton chevies are the iron 3053A and are OD, I keep wondering if the parts from the 3053 can be swapped into the aluminum case.
