Consumer Reports warns people to stay away from Healthcare.gov!

They say you never know the REAL answers unless you ask the right questions. Listen to the phone call C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y.........YIKES!!!

part of the phone transcript......listen to the call to hear the "rest of the story".......

“Right now from what I heard our system is down for the next like 42 hours,” Davis said. “So no one is able to get in, but if they call us we can help them fill out an application as long as they went online to create an account first.”
“Well that’s the point, I can’t get online to create an account, so how would I be able to create the account if the website is down for the next 42 hours?” Hannity asked.
“You would have to wait until those 42 hours is up,” Davis replied.
“You know how hard this this? Have people been complaining how hard this is, like me?” the radio host asked.

“Yes, sir, and I understand your frustration,” she said. ”We get calls like this everyday, but we just encourage people to not give up and just try until you get in. But nobody won’t be able to get in until like 42 hours later.”
Davis then revealed she had been provided a script to read to callers advising them of the glitches. Hannity persuaded her to read it aloud for his listeners to hear.

“Thanks for your interest in the health insurance marketplace. We are having a lot of visitors trying to use our website right now. This is causing some glitches for some people trying to create an account or log in. Keep trying and thanks for your patience. You might have better success during off-peak hours like later at night or early in the morning. We’ll continue working to improve the site so you can get covered,” Davis said the script reads."

Consumer Reports says to "stay away from Healthcare.gov for at least another month"

May I suggest you drive your truck over to healthcare.gov and tell them that you want them to load up as much of that cow manure as will fit in the bed of your truck. Be sure and tell them to pack it into the passenger seat and floorboard as well because you don't want to miss out on ANY OF IT.

Mmmmmmmmmm, it smells so good I can taste it!!!

What are you talking about? I've been saying since October 2 that people should stay away until the bugs are worked out. You're the one spreading the manure with this thread title and the previous one about Warren Buffett. How can you defend either thread title? I'm surprised that you would want to spread such falsehoods.

Or that such deliberate trolling is permitted by the site.

You need to patronize a higher level of dining establishments.

Concerning Buffet, there appears to be a lot more to his story concerning his views on health care..........but that would require a lot of research and reading. You have to 'read between the lines' to understand his views. And most people accept every statement made at face value.........

Healthcare in this country has been problematic for some time. In my opinion, the "fix" is only going to exacerbate the problem.

The health insurance companies are licking their chomps in anticipation of greatly increased business. These are the same companies who employ 'case workers' who have little to NO formal medical education to make decisions about what medical procedures are "medically necessary".

Your doctor answers to your health insurance company. They tell him/her what procedures are medically necessary and what they will or will not pay for. Sure, your doctor can "appeal" the insurance companies decision, but the bottom line is the payor holds ALL of the cards when it comes to what procedures are or are not performed. No pay, no play.

Your health care 'gate keepers' (case workers, administrators) have never stepped foot into a medical school and yet they control the quality and quantity of your very existence; your health. They delay or deny treatment and you may suffer irreparable medical injury, even death.

I won't get into the various quality of care issues of various hospitals, medical schools, etc etc. because that is another topic but I have seen it up close and personal, you best know as much or MORE about medicine as your doctor or you may end up with medically induced problems.

This is similar to allowing a non-mercedes benz trained technician to work on your mercedes. He not only has never attended or RECENTLY attended Mercedes technical training, he has absolutely zero hours OJT working under the direction of an experienced master factory trained Mercedes Benz mechanic. He may not have access to current technical factory update bulletins. Funny enough, I know of a few independent mechanics who fit this category to a "T". Loose canons.

You get your car back and NOTHING works right.

^^^^ I agree with every word, except the part about the ACA exacerbating the problem. I think it is an imperfect patch that will improve the current situation, leading to single payer, which is what we really need.

Your thread titles are still misleading, though. How do you justify that?

If you haven't been to the site in the last 24 hours, you'll notice a few nice changes, especially the one that allows "window shopping."

BTW, isn't CR constantly slamming Mercedes?

They say in business front line customer service agents represent not only a company's offerings and competency, but how they feel about their customers. The customer service agent is merely doing their job at the behest of their employer; as Sean said, she is really nice and pleasant to deal with. The problem is the message she has been told to deliver to the customer.

Did you read the transcript in the OP???? Do you support incompetency????

This is certainly true now. In a best case scenario under ACA in the marketplace, when there is good competition, if you find you are mistreated you have an opportunity to find a better provider. I doubt that will really happen much as there is not likely to be real competition for better benefits. Using the car analogy, burning Shell instead of Exxon gas.
