Support Your Local Musician

If there is a music program in your local school, a town orchestra or band, or if you are lucky enough to have a symphony, please consider supporting it.

Between this and the cancer slideshow you guys completely got me today. That was moving.

I can honestly say that music was and is one of the biggest influences in my life and kept me out of trouble (despite what a lot of parents tend to think) when I was in my adolescence. If it weren't for music programs in school and locally, along with encouraging support, friends, and education in it, my life would be much emptier. So YES. Donate. And don't just donate, go see your local orchestras and productions -- nothing is more electric to a bunch of musicians than a packed house. Its one of the things I am most grateful for my parents for exposing/encouraging me as a kid.

Also, if its of your predilection, go to local shows and support local bands -- its really all that some people have.

What was very well communicated (in this bank commercial) was the closer connection to the musicians, dressed in street clothes, at street level and in a public place, performing for the public. On many levels it allows the audience to relate and perhaps not take the talent, training and dedication for granted.

I didn't realize it was for a bank, never heard of Sam Sabbadel before. I assume they're a sponsor of that orchestra in some way? Either way, this sort of thing is what really encourages kids and the public to engage and get into it. I completely agree with you.

One of the more moving ambushes I’ve been drawn into.
