Here in this area, not the best police, but it is East Mesa. The "old" man out here is best of them all and fulfills serve and protect. Came up to his car while out on a walk and asked a question. Turned into chatting a bit. Apparently he is friendly with a neighbor down the street also. Quote:
I agree about driving an older classic does help. I am getting better at just chilling and accepting I am late. Saving a few minutes isn't worth the cost and hassle. Normally drive five under, but used to drive five and ten on trips to Commufornia. Nailed because of rushing to get back over a weekend in February. Stupidly had the back window blocked with all the stuff I had to bring back and was being typical A.S.D. and focusing just on passing two semis. Now I know to be more aware and NO passing within 25 miles of a city center and within city limits. Oh and being a nice chap only gets one so far. Got me out of three out of five. (One was blocked tag and the other an accident. The rest were speeding, with two being down hills.)

No spot lights, just the high beams on a 300D. New England's JPMT (Jerks Per Mile Traveled) ratio is a lot higher than driving in the South.

High hatted rich folks have never seen a speed trap in their area ,I drive it some 100 miles 4 days a week ,the ones they do setup are around a low end rental home area that range from 70k to 100k on the outskirts of the master planned community, their favorite is sitting in a car wash at the end of the subdivision.Never got their attention until 2 days ago ,one was sitting off the road ,waiting for a hollywood sign runner ,I slowed enough but was just about to bring on the gas when I spotted his right fender, stopped then gave it the gas out of 2nd ,the officer didnt like the high reves so he closed in behind me.They go for the license plate run all the time if its slow ,meaning no speeders or sign runners.DPS setup a little different ,one officer stood out in the middle of the road after he gauged you speeding ,a 35 mph zone ,I real cowboy cop ,I guess if you buzzed by he had a lasso tied to his squad car .

I refer to them as DB's. They are everywhere. Cannot even get out of my local street and drive 30 mph (the limit) on the main road when the engine is cold because the DB must go 50. |

in NY state--everywhere except the 5 boroughs-- you still have the right to opt for a jury trial for (moving violation) because its classivfied as a crimminal offense....................... wait, that charge is prolly not a MV, Never mind. |

Texas, Illinois and NY-(outside the 5) are the only three states left where the people still have the right.

But, there is no possibility of being found not guilty. Then, since you are now at the mercy of the judge for the fine, he's going to slap you with $5K just because he can. It's not good approach. |

In Manhattan, parking on the street has developed into an art form. You either find a person who is walking toward their vehicle (but has not yet entered it) or YOU LOSE and the person behind you, or behind them, gets the space. Well, I go every week, and some weeks are terrific and some are just plain miserable. Last Saturday was one of the latter. I typically wait at the very end of one of the streets (81st) in front of a fire hydrant. There are about 50 cars on the block and all I need is ONE to move and I can get the space. The odds of one of the 50 moving in 30 minutes are very good. The problem is that I must realize that a person is getting into their vehicle and get my vehicle out into the roadway and move toward that vehicle before any other vehicle rounds the corner. If the light is against me and someone turns as I'm looking to move out..............that's it...........he gets the space. Now, this exact scenario happened TWICE and the $hitbox got the space before I could move. Thoroughly pissed off. After over one hour of waiting, another one of the hundreds of vehicles who is looking for a space rolls around the corner and, instead of continuing down the block, he stops about two cars ahead of me and pulls all the way to the left (cars can squeeze by him on the right). He puts the flashers on. This behavior is common for those making a delivery of some type. Unbeknownst to me, this DB was waiting for a space, similar to myself. However, he's right in the roadway and I'm at the right curb. About five minutes goes by and I see a woman walk up to the driver's door of her vehicle, about four vehicles ahead of me............and exactly diagonally across the street from the DB. I immediately start the SE and pull out and slowly move forward toward the right side of the DB's vehicle. He also sees the space developing, but he cannot move over there because he would hit me (I'm next to him). The two of us are now completely blocking the roadway for about one minute. The woman pulls out of the space and I move up ahead of the space to back into the space. The DB pulls diagonally across the street and tries to nose into the space...........but he fails because I'm already nearly backed into it. Horn starts blowing feverishly............screaming starts occurring on how that is "his space" and that he has been waiting "five minutes for that space" I politely inform him that I have been waiting over one hour for the space and he's not getting it. "FUK YOU.........FUK YOU...........FUK YOU.........." He drives off down the street. Thankfully, when I returned to the vehicle later that afternoon, the DB did not return and take out the windshield or any of the door glass. |

It's sad that people are so blatantly inconsiderate, why they can't learn to live and let live. I'm beginning to believe that driving in NYC requires a car load of muscled up guys like this: Tailgating - Lost Highway - YouTube |

The taxis are the worst. They will stop anywhere they please...........right in the middle of the roadway...........and pickup a fare. You can pound sand. You cannot get by them and you must wait for them. Now, if the taxi has the fare and is behind you..........that DB is coming up to within 6" to try and push you. He'll start blowing the horn to make you move faster. I once stopped right in the roadway to fuk with him a bit. If I had gun, I'd absolutely be in jail. |

Just park 20 blocks north in Harlem and finding a spot becomes much less of an issue
