Where are the chickenchit cops in your area?
 

The one in my area is the only cop in Point Comfort. He has a barely marked SUV.

Every day about 5000 cars and trucks have to get to and from two factories that border the town. Unfortunately, the four lane roads to one factory run within the city limits. For most workers and supply trucks, the route to the factory includes railroad tracks fifty feet from a left turn with traffic lights. Coming from the factory, there is a right turn with the railroad tracks 50 feet beyond.

When he is not setting speed traps, the CS cop sits at this intersection and tickets anybody who does not to come to a complete stop at the right hand turn, anybody who stops for the red light on the railroad tracks (two trains a day, not when he is giving tickets), any tank truck that does not come to a complete stop at the railroad crossing. It is a rare day when I go to work and don't see that he has someone pulled over

I got his attention today coming home. I was at the right turn intersection with a tank truck in front of me. The light turned green. I knew the truck was going to stop at the tracks so as soon as the rear of the trailer cleared, I put the pedal to the metal and passed the truck legally and rapidly accelerated in the first two gears, then let off in third.

CS cop jumped at the bait. He ended up following me out of his jurisdiction on a two mile long bridge while I slowed to 45 (the legal minimum) and other cars passed him in the left hand lane doing 70+ in a 55 zone.

Where are CS cops that you know of?

don't know about where your at but around here the locals have jurisdiction 2 miles from the city limits.

Our local CS po po hang out in a school... very near the casino.
The town I live in has 1 resident state trooper, and no local police department.
It was one of the major criteria I had when looking for a home.

i was pulled over once because my temp tag was in the wrong corner of the back window. one thing i would LOVE to see enforced is the fire lane in front of stores. it annoys the **** out of me that i can park out in the lot, but there is constantly someone parked in front of the door to every store i go to.


by far the best experiences i have had with leo's has been highway patrol and maricopa county sherrif.

i was headed back from the lake one day not paying attention to the change in speed limit. got stopped by highway patrol for 20+ over. officer was cool as can be. when he asked for my license, i said sure, but before i grab for my wallet, i want you to know there is a gun strapped to my waist on that side. he said no problem at all, did his thing, asked about the fishing, and let me off with a warning.

No matter where you are at any given time in my county, the nearest deputy sheriff is 45 minutes away. I don't know how they do that.

I'll let my father know, he's checking in on some property he owns in Seadrift for a couple days on his way to visit my sister in Taos. I'm sure he'll be in and through Port Lavaca/Point Comfort as he checks out the area. The only thing local constables love more than pinching locals on the letter of the law is pinching yankees in RV's with out-of-state plates. $$$ cha-ching! $$$

I've never had issues with my locals. Then again, I generally drive the speed limit and obey the local traffic laws. At least now that I have kids.

My personal CS cop story is courtesy of the NYC police department and it's a better scam than most of the aforementioned:

The corner of 90th street and East End Avenue is a 90 degree intersection. It's one way down 90th street and you must turn right onto East End Avenue. East End avenue ends at 90th street and there is no traffic coming up to 90th street because it's one-way at that point.

So, all traffic flow is across 90th with a right turn onto East End avenue.

Right at the turn there is a stop sign. In fact, there are a pair of them, one on either side of the road. Apparently, NYC is serious about stopping for that crosswalk.

Fine.

Come down 90th street and there is a line of cars stopped in the street. The que leads around the corner onto East End Avenue. The que is slowly moving foward one vehicle at a time.

After about five minutes, I can see around the corner and the NYPD has a Cushman in the middle of the road and appear to be questioning the driver of each car as they round the corner and approach the cushman.

A few more minutes, and it my turn to round the corner and approach the Cushman.

"You failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign"
"Pull over to the curb".

30 minutes and $130 ticket.


Talk about CS cops. These azzholes can easily make all the money they need by ticketing those that "block the box" or run the red lights and they choose to hit people unfairly in such a manner. Complete BS.
