123 Cupholder + ipad + AC Converter dock

Hey All,

Thought I'd share some photos of an ipad dock and cupholder I made. I can now drink coffee AND enjoy navigation in my '85 300TD!

There's a small Cobra 400w AC Converter mounted under the ipad dock. The blue pad is a cutting from a yoga mat and wood is some scrap I found laying around the farm. I used the ipad to take the photo, so you can't see it in action unfortunately.

Its mounted to an old cell phone mount from the previous owner. Got lucky there!

Simple & effective, I like it. You might want to add some rubber corner straps to hold the ipad in place if you hit a bump or crash though.

What was the purpose of the 400w AC converter? I would think that the direct solution would have been a 12V to USB 2.0 cable.

Thanks. Good idea on the corner straps.

I plan on having this on the open road a lot - so I'll be able to power my laptop, and whatever else as needed, without buying a car charger. The AC converter has a USB jack as well. Plus, there seems to be no intact wiring to the cigar lighter, so I would have had to troubleshoot and wire that anyway.

I think the cigar lighter just feeds off one of the radio wires, which may have been cut off during a radio upgrade.
