Very strange happenings with the post office
A few weeks ago, I sold a member here a set of valve adjustment wrenches. Today, I received an email from him:

I'm going to the post office tomorrow to see if anyone there know anything about this, but one thing's for sure:

When I sell you something, I make it VERY clear. You can pick it up or I can ship it. If you insist on USPS, I bear NO responsibility for it after I drop it off.

The postman needed one valve adjustment wrench more than an expensive bike chain.

It is near obvious that they had 2 packages that stuff came out of and the Post office simply filled the Package what they could find.
The question is was the package poorly packed to begin with or was it the Post Offices handleing of the Package that was the cause of the loss. Wonder if someone who was waiting on the Bicycle Chain got a Valve Wrench? If the Package was not insured the Post Office is just going to shrug their collective Shoulders. Give the Customer a choice. If He can use the Bicycle Chain and accepts it the Deal is done. If He wants the other Wrench and the Bicycle Chain is worth it have Him Ship the Chain too You and You ship the Wrench to Him. Sell the Chain. Note I bought a Mercedes Service Manual on eBay and when it arrived there was a big Tire Mark where a Fork Lift had been driven over the Manual and the Cover was wrinkled an damaged. It was not like that on the Pic on eBay and there was also a repacking note on it. Apparently it had fallen on the Floor at the Post Office and the original package had gotten run over by a Fork Lift and torn up. |
LOL ... that happened to me a few months ago. I got a USPS small flat rate box which had a bunch of LSU school stuff, pens, et cet., and an infinity scarf. A few weeks prior, I got a plastic bag with a set of injectors inside it, nothing more. Just a plastic bag. So, I am thinking along the lines of Diesel 911. They both came from "Captain America" off S u p er T u r b o D i e s e l dot c o m. LOL

I sort of follow the same thing. Once I drop off a package to be shipped by any carrier I am no longer responsible for it. I packed it to high standards to ensure it will not break open or damage the goods but I cannot watch the box the entire trip. Insuring the package is the only other thing I can do.

atleast you got something. we sent something off and it made it as far as Chicago... then their machines (supposidly) ate it and nothing.....

Actually, if it is by Fedex or UPS, it is a different story. Much easier to track. USPS is very difficult to check but people want it because it is cheap. Well, you want, you got. Don't make me responsible for it. I had a book sent to me via USPS. 3 weeks later, I had to get a refund. 1 week later, I got the book and had to refund the refund. WTF!! People use USPS because they think it is the cheapest. Generally, what you pay at the counter is. Aggravation added into the equation, not so cheap. But as I said, if you insist, I'll let YOU go argue with them. I do a "Pontius Pilate" on the affair once it is in USPS hands. |
After having a package leave the state of origin 4 days after my scheduled receipt of said item I was amused to find that Google wants to auto-complete "USPS Tracking" to "USPS Tracking Sucks"

USPS has ruined many packages for me over the years. Now, when I purchase something that needs shipped, I demand it be shipped FEDEX or UPS...with UPS being the last choice.
