What Fourth Amendment?

"Civil libertarians are criticizing Ohio police for arresting a driver because his car contained a compartment that could theoretically store illegal drugs, though no drugs were found at that time."

It's called "making up probable cause where there is not one"

New market for placards - Vehicle contains a non secret compartment

Did the police officer look like Tom Cruise from the future crime division? No doubt the Ohio PD pre-cogs crapped out a cueball with this guys plate number on it and reported a future crime.

I really want to see what this secret compartment looked like. I find this most interesting from the article-

Quote:

A highway patrolman noticed wires running to a secret compartment in the car and arrested Gurley,
A compartment is not that secret if a policeman walking up to the car notices wires going to it, and why the hell would I have wires going to my marijuana stash on my car? What that sounds like to me is a CD changer compartment, but id really like to see what it looks like

Agreed--and its the reason I dislike "hate-crime" legislation. They require delving into the thoughts of the perp. Isn't it sufficient to prosecute for actions? leave thoughts out of it.

Civil liberty authorities. What a great idea for an organization.

That cop is a kunt.

MS Fowler 12-31-2013 11:56 AM

How much of a secret compartment could it have been since the cop found it?

t walgamuth 12-31-2013 11:57 AM

Was it the glove box?

MS Fowler 12-31-2013 12:05 PM

I bet the cop would really go bonkers over Bogart's coupe in "To have and Have Not" which had a spring-loaded panel under the dash that held two revolvers.

I keep my Legos in that compartment.....jerks
