Thumbs down Uh, NO thanks.....

Former DARPA director and now Google executive Regina Dugan is pushing an edible “authentication microchip” along with an electronic tattoo that can read your mind. No this isn’t a movie script about a futuristic scientific dictatorship, it’s trendy and cool!

» Ex-DARPA Head Wants You to Swallow ID Microchips Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Bull****.............

I can see opportunities for identity theft piling up at sewage treatment plants across the country. I would also be leery of parking my techy new car too close to the septic tank, lest the proximity of one of my recently "discarded" chips allows some juvenile miscreant to just walk up to my car and open the now-unlockable door...

Of course, for the paranoid, or those who might actually be under some type of official surveillance, the opportunity for mischief abounds. Take one of the swallowable microchips, wrap it into a piece of lunchmeat, give it to Fido...

people spend an enormous amount of time freaking out about potential invasive activity of the US government.

What we should be worrying about is companies like google and people voluntarily surrendering personal liberties in the interest of the latest tech gadget.

What's the advantage over biometrics, or biometrics combined with a passive authentication chip that's (say) in a piercing?

Easier to slip it into a package of Soylent Green and monitor the masses than it is to send a fleet of black govt vans around for the purpose of piercing us one by one.

After the fifth or tenth short-term abduction by the Feds we might start to catch on. :tinfoil:

If it passes through, then this is something that might potentially be considered for the "best fart" thread.

"Geez, ma, I farted and killed the cat!"

It isn't "either/or".

It's "All the above."
