Ford bets big on going all aluminum with 2015 F150 pickup

Significant because it's the best selling vehicle in the USA, with one new one sold every 41 seconds, I heard on the news yesterday.

Is it a game changer? Harbinger of the future? Lighter = better mpg.. but is this better for pickups? Especially for towing..and big loads. Would it work for the F 250 and F350? Or only for light duty pickups?

Will the hold up as well as the steel pickup trucks, many of which will take a huge battering?

Body work trickier with aluminum? Will buyers accept this? Will GM and dodge follow suit with this?

The grille looks like a tribute to the Toyota Tundra?

UK have Land Rover Defender made of aluminium - a royal PITA in bodywork. But most defender owners never even wash it - let alone care about body repairs.

It doesnt even sport a dashboard - simple rugged, box shaped truck with permanent 4x4 and independant difflocks.
