New avatar

You might have noticed I changed my avatar after quite some time. I am transitioning into a new career as a painter. If you'd like to see what I've been doing lately (considering I have not been here very much in the last few months), check out the FaceBook page where my work is on display. On FaceBook go to "The Art of Thomas Mewborn" and see what you think.

I'm thinking of beginning a new series of paintings of vintage Mercedes Benzes from photographs I've made over the years at various Benz gatherings and Concours I've attended.

I would welcome your feedback and support.

So...who is it?

Or is it a copy of a painting you did?

Dee8go 01-16-2014 10:50 PM

It's a self-portrait I finished this afternoon.

Oh yeah it is isn't it :D

Larger version perhaps?

I couldn't upload anything larger. Check out my FB page "The Art of Thomas Mewborn" to see larger versions of this and other of my paintings.

Are you using photoshop in this painting process?

It would appear he's using, you know, PAINT.

Nice work, good luck!

Nice work. There is nothing like following your passion and doing what you enjoy.

I remember my Grand Dad telling me that if you find a job you love, you'll never work another day of your life.

Nice,Tom! You've got some serious talent, my friend.

And you're certainly playing the part of an artist with that soul patch! :)

No, I am painting from a photograph, but using watercolors and paint brushes and whutnot . . . I'm old school.

Thanks, Swamp! Soul patch is gone for now, but I may bring it back again. Please check me out on FaceBook if you're on there. My paintings are on "The Art of Thomas Mewborn" on FB.

I found after clicking around a little bit. You don't need to be a FB member to see a lot stuff on there, which is good since I've managed to avoid it for the most part. :)

I put everything on there as "Public" in terms of viewing restrictions. Of course, I don't consider anything I put on the internet to be private anyhow. If I don't want anybody to see it, I just don't put it there in the first place. . . .

how many coats did it take?
