yes, Euro. FIL actually imported it back to US when he left his duty station in Germany. Pics coming in a couple of weeks, as I have to go down to Lousiana to fetch it. Never been in the salt, either, same mechanic most of the 30 years they owned it. MIL says the euro lights are in the attic, so I will be fetching those too.

I had a 420SEL when I lived in Texas, but it was not very loved prior to me getting hold of it. It used LOTS of oil and had HVAC issues as well as the well known differential mount "sag". TBS, it was a tank. I look forward to this car. I drove it once, and it was rock solid. MIL spared no expense to keep it in tip top shape.

yep, she's going to be thirsty...that's ok, though. The Porsche gets about 25 on the highway, so it'll balance out.....

You probably already know this, but make sure the timing chain and guides have been attended to.

Congrats! Amazing to find a euro w126 sedn with a history that complete./

You have snagged a real honey of a car, The short wheelbase is sportier and nippier than the long SEL, but best of all the 500 Euro engine is pretty much acclaimed as the best and most reliable of the euro w126 engines, it can slightly outperform a standard spec 560 US engine./

It's a robust engine too, it will last forever if you take care of it Actually the car itself could last over a million miles./

You found a lifetime keeper I would say./

And join Benzworld w126 right away. Good crew, VERY knowledgeable, and some from Germany who can guide you to euro parts./

Calling the mechanic who worked on it next week to get the run down. I think they have been taken care of.

Awesome! Green is one of the best colors! A 500 euro will have the performance equal or greater than a 560 US version.

Is there a source for torque & HP curves to compare the various differences between the US and Euro versions for that era?

Caution on the rear end. I think a lot of those early 500s came with the limited slip which takes a special oil. There should be a tag hanging down from the diff if it is, but if it has had the same mechanic you might just be able to ask him.

I pulled a diff from an early 500 euro at the yard once and we installed it on my dad's previous 300SD....it was just a normal open diff.
