Wowzers, a flunk-wheel-driven "BMW"

BMW 2-series Active Tourer specs, photos and information - Autoweek

Hope I get the pleasure of seeing one of those sorry excuses for a BMW in flames by the side of the road one day so I can drive by and give the idiot sheepsumers who bought it the one-finger salute. Flunk-wheel-drive. Mandatory limpdick-o-matic transmission. *grumble*

I wonder of the diesel mpg is US or European? Neat little car. Id have to see how I fit. I've noticed at 6'3' I have a more difficult time getting comfy in smaller cars. Looks like MB will, have some competition for their CLA. I think I like the CLA better.

The CLA definitely looks better, to me it looks like European brands have their own AMC pacer moment. Bubble cars.

The CLA hits a nice balance between "aggressive" and "cute".

What were they thinking?

Looks like I'll be keeping my 300D for a long time. At least BMW still makes the S1000RR.

Gearbox choices are a standard six-speed manual and optional six-speed automatic with the three-cylinder.

It appears to be a perfect vehicle for certain buyers who don't need the size or the performance of the the three series. Such buyers won't give a rats ass about whether it has RWD or not.

Just because a vehicle is unsuitable for YOU doesn't make it unsuitable for OTHERS.

BMW needs to cheapen up the 1 series to compete with the CLA, so the RWD platform must go.

When do they start bringing out the 0, and the -1, -2, and -3 series?

Except that only the 4-cyl/autotragic will be offered in the Yank Skank Septic Tank market.

BTW -- how long before the 3-series goes dickless?

FWD sucks, yes. But the Mini is put together fairly well, and BMW has had practice at it for over a decade now. It may be seen as diluting the brand, but the brand was killed in my eyes a while back, IMO they stopped being the ultimate driving machine about when iDrive came out.
At least now the sub-3series class will have something to send their kids to school in.

Diluted ... hmmm, how about when they set up their stereos to pipe fake engine noises into the passenger compartment. Not even kidding...
