Win 7 Office 2007 not accepting keyboard entry
In the wifey's Dell XPS running Windows 7 and Office 2007, MS Office programs won't accept keyboard entry. Not text, not keyboard shortcuts, not functions keys, not pasting from clipboard, not inserting images... Most program functions are grayed out. I tried the advice here -
Office 2007 - keyboard won't allow typing letters in Word or Excel - Microsoft Community but it's set to US English exclusively (we're in the US, laptop was delivered new in the US). PC has been restarted numerous times. Avast says the system is clean. Other programs accept keyboard entry. Anything else to try besides getting a Mac? Thanks, Sixto |

It appears Office locked itself because of an invalid key. Uh oh...

If you have a valid key, call Microsoft. You could also update to Orifice 365 and rent for $10/mo (or buy 2013).
Other options are a crack off The Pirate Bay or OpenOffice.org. |

Have you checked the computer's event logs for warnings and errors?
Have you tried starting the computer and then an Office application in "Safe" mode? Have you tried to repair the install of Office? How to use the repair process in the 2007 Office programs Have you tried reinstalling Office? Even if you don't have media, you can find valid .iso images and usually re-apply your license. I missed this post before. It appears you have found the problem... as noted, if you have a valid key you can call MS. Sometimes the key is valid for a different edition of Office...
