I'm poorer, shorter, less healthy, and less educated than ....

the average iPhone user.

Android users poorer, shorter, unhealthier, less educated, far less charitable than Apple iPhone users – MacDailyNews - Welcome Home

Though I wonder what the stats would be for users of high-end Android phones. You'd think that they'd appeal to the geek demographic -- access to the file system, ability to upgrade storage via a flash slot on some devices, no software censorship, and ability to do actual work seems like a winning combo!

Let the flames begin...

I don't even have a smart phone and have no intention of getting one. Once again proving that I am exceptional.

Define "high end"-I'm omnitoad on my 2yr old phone, because they don't make sliders anymore and that's the best I could find. Much better than the stock garbage, and worlds better than an i-device. I hear what you're saying though.

They actually do make sliders. Look up the LG Optimus F3Q.

Decent specs, LTE, the only peril is only 4 GB of ROM, but that's easily fixable if you root it, partition a 32 GB flash card to hold another 5 GB of apps, and use the remainder of the card for file storage.

It's also running 4.1, but 4.4 is actually a disadvantage in some ways due to the way it handles flash storage.

The data isn't surprising, is it . . . especially when you consider that this is a forum of Mercedes owners.

The socio-economic demographic for Mercedes owners pair up nicely with the iOS crowd.

Yeah, but they're owners of (mostly?) older Mercedes. I'd say that Android would be a good fit for people who like a bit of wrenching and customization.

My LG Slider died after 4 years of faithful service. I replaced it with my kid's 3g iPhone when she upgraded. It works just fine for my needs and it was the right price.

I suspect I'll eventually get an iPhone. A couple weeks ago, a client an I were discussing some issues with the wood paneling in bathroom and I found a spot that was sort of hollow. We dug into it and he eventually spotted a bug, we weren't exactly sure what it was so we captured it, put it in a bit of rubbing alcohol and proceeded to study it. He pulled his iPhone out and took a magnified photo of it (!?). Never seen the like. The photo was clear and it was blown up big time. It was a termite, no surprise, we found pics on the web. I don't run into them often, surprisingly enough.

Their market share just watched Windows Phone zip past them into third place.

I use whatever I am given by the folks that figure out what to buy. I still wish I had my old flip phone since the only thing I do with my smart phone is read the news while I am waiting to see someone.

@ idle " I still wish I had my old flip phone"
That's the only cell phone I will ever own, and it stays off most of the time. No camera, no GPS, just a phone and clock.

I don't need to be continuously 'connected' to others to validate my existence. It's just another form of addiction/slavery. If people need to contact me I've got an answering machine on a land line.
