What would it take---for you to be convinced
that they have found the wreckage of the Malaysian airliner?
As the search intensifies in the Southern Indian Ocean, how much would you need to see to be convinced? Given that governments, including ours, lie to preserve what they see as their national interests, and given that some government agencies have the ability to fabricate almost anything needed by way of evidence, what would you need to see? I am not supporting any particular theory concerning the disappearance, but I know many of you are skeptics at heart, what would it take? What would be incontrovertible proof, and wouldn't that be exactly what would be "fabricated"--supposing someone had the will to fabricate anything?

I will be convinced when a credible source shows a piece of the aircraft that makes it clear that it came from a 777. I think that it would not be necessary to see a piece with the tailnumber or some such as long as it could be shown to be from a 777. I think that 777's are all well enough accounted for, that the piece could not be from a different 777.

I am under the impression that the plane is somewhere in China being disassembled to be reversed engineered by the Chinese to be marketed as a counterfeit 777.

That's a theory I haven't yet heard Jim, but at this point it's about as plausible as any of them.
I wonder if in the process of building the new parts, they will bother knocking the flash off the castings? This brings to mind something from Pappy Boyingtons Autobiography. After capture, he and some other pilots were carried from an Island to the Japanese mainland in a plane that he said was an ABSOLUTE knockoff of a DC3. He was educated as an aeronautical engineer, and very much into aircraft beyond merely flying them. He said that every construction detail was so identical he thought that it was a captured DC3, but somehow determined that it was a Japanese built aircraft.

Some of you will remember the B29s that landed in the USSR and Stalin ordered them reverse engineered. The fear of Stalin was so great that an obvious patch panel was faithfully reproduced in the copies.

Chances are if any parts are recovered it will be by a country like Australia. There would be no way to control things to add much or any deception. Right now the fight is to find almost any evidence that stands up as being from a modern jet basically.
Serious storms could erupt in that region anytime halting the search for days. After so much time it would become almost hopeless to find anything. That allowing what has been observed already is from the crash. Size does indicate a wing was possible though with empty fuel tanks for floatation. I also think the pallet may be recent or otherwise it would be coated with marine growth. |

The baby jezus took it and our government is trying to hide the fact.

Just out of curiosity, who or what was on that plane that it is so incredibly important that we find it?

The great thing about the pallet theory is that's the only way a pallet could have ended up in the Indian Ocean.
I mean it's not like there are cargo ships passing through channels there all the time and losing crap (including palletized loads) that would be carried by currents all over the place... |
