Why the need for a doctor's prescription? We don't need a prescription for ibuprofen or sudafed or alcohol. Why marijuana?

I do NOT consider anyone who disagrees with me to be a druggie. It does seem that there are a lot of them here. In fact IIRC you even admitted to it at one point. I have no doubt that there are many here and elsewhere that disagree with me that are not druggies.

That link is certainly a mistake. According to the drug experts on this forum, marijuana has no ill effects of any kind.

I have indeed called people druggies when that is the correct response for the particular discussion at hand. I have NOT, however called anyone who disagrees with me on any subject a druggie. That is just simply not correct. Period.

"Oh, you don't agree that converting an R12 AC system to 134 is a bad thing? You are a druggie." No, I don't call people druggies whenever they disagree with me.

When otoh, the subject of drugs comes up and people admit to using them, yeah, I'll call them a druggie because they have proved it by admission.

A brief google search reveals that ingesting marijuana can have hallucinatory effects. This is the second tragedy in Denver. An African exchange student jumped off the 4th floor balcony of an hotel after ingesting marijuana a few weeks ago.

Would be interesting to hear, as Paul Harvey would say.... the rest of the story.

In my line of work, I am around many, many people who drink and/or smoke weed.(believe it or not, people like to get high at concerts...)
I have never seen anyone under the influence of marijuana only become violent. I have seen dozens and dozens of people drinking become violent.
Ask any cop or event security and they will tell you the same.
Granted, this is anecdotal evidence, YMMV... But I think dude had other issues, besides a pot cookie...

You REALLY enjoy misstating what I have said out of context. I am the last one to take medicine of any kind, and I think that over prescribing many different drugs is a HUGE problem. I was responding to Jim's specific question and my emphasizing legitimate was meant to qualify that in an end of life situation as Jim described I could go along with it.

If you want to talk about quacks prescriptions, talk about the massive prescriptions handed out in the marijuana clinics. Maybe some of them are legitimate, but it appears that many or most are not. It sounds as if maybe those guys love people like you.
