Happy easter!

I took my grandson William to the zoo yesterday. He is four. We went into the petting zoo where they had lots of goats that are very very gentle. He fed them. There were also chickens walking around, and not in the petting area there was a Llama, a potbellied pig and some very very large Lop rabbits. They looked big enough to lay eggs.

We had a great time!

Good for you, Pop Pop Tom.

My experiences with goats would not allow me to view than as suitable for a petting zoo. Maybe when they are w/o horns, but the ones I knew as a kid ( !) would try to lock my leg in their horns and then twist. No fun.

Mine average about 180lbs and are de-horned. My bucks are around 220lbs.They are roughly waist high on me at their shoulders. Most petting zoo goats are significantly smaller. Once socialized, goats are not aggressive. At least not does and neutered bucks, properly called wethers.

It's baby season, my favorite and most stressful time of the year. Lambs and kids coming out my ears.

They look like puppies in their action except a puppy would not have that climbing instinct.

I have a hoop house type shade structure in my kid pen. It's about 6 feet high at the center. Made of two welded wire cattle panels bent up into a hoop shape and covered with shade cloth. Every year one kid will be first to figure out that it can be climbed. Within two days that baby will have taught everybody else to climb it too and they'll all be throwing themselves off it and doing it again.
