Value of clean aluminum scrap today?

Thanks. I got .50/# for a nice BMW wheel....7.50. Maybe got a little too little but not bad. I was thinking last time I got about a buck a #.

You would be lucky if they would buy it as Clean Aluminum. The always want to stick yo with the "Mixed Aluminum" price. Out here they will tell you that it is not pure Aluminum therfore Mixed Aluminum.

Out here in CA Aluminum Cans are worth more because you pay like a deposit on them whey you buy the canned Drinks. Called a CRV Value and the cans are supposed to be so marked.

If you bring Cans in from another State with no CRV mark on them you may or may not get caught.

Then go axe some homeless guys pushing shopping carts in your town with those big garbage sacks fulla scavenged Miller Lite beer cans, Coke, Pepsi and Diet Dr Pepper cans.

Aluminium rims for scrap where a buck a pound but I believe the price has fallen off. How much locally I do not know.

You did not ask that question earlier in the thread. .

I have a maybe twelve 123 alloy wheels I perhaps should have sent for scrap when the price was decent. Thinking about three years ago.

It probably will come back up. Still a shame to send them for scrap if anyone could get some use out of them.

My brother dragged home and gave me a set of aftermarket chrome-plated "17 alloy rims for some Mercedes. I appreciate the thought, but they don't fit my w123s and are in really crappy shape - badly corroded and peeling chrome.
I want them gone, but I'd be happy to get some $ for them. Would the chrome hurt their scrap value?
