I expect the answer is that they continue getting PA. It would not surprise me if at that point they draw more money than those who faithfully paid their social security all those years.

Also, once you calculate taxes, and the "hidden" costs of going to a job, and all those little inconvieniences, I wonder how close those competing blue and red bars really look.

I think that chart is too "sanitized".

NO mention of spending by the welfare recips on gambling, alcohol, tobacco, or "recreational pharmaceuticals". (or is it included under the umbrella of "entertainment"?

Or is it too politically incorrect, to include such?

Nah the 40's and cigs don't show up, you just need to know how to work the system dog.


Take the EBT card to an unscrupulous store or just sell it for the cash, than you can get smokes and 40's.

When that's the only news or information a person hears about, that's the conclusion that they will leap to. There are some people that are surprised to learn that there's Caucasians on welfare or assistance, not just minorities.

A family of 4 gets $930./month, not sure how you would be able to buy drugs or gamble for that kind of money. But you guys, like always seem to know more about welfare...

Maybe if the chart showed the percentage of income spent on each category it would be a bit more informative? Dollar amounts are good for angering up the blood and all, but do not tell the entire story. What percentage is spent would go a little further to tell if the money was being spent wisely, or if the amount was in tune with the recipient's needs.
