Waiting for the arrival of a new donation....

Yesterday and today I received emails from the curator at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in regards to a donation for the museum that will be arriving. This one is a bit unusual considering the focus of the collection a the museum. Someone is donation a 1997 SL600. The curator wants me to go through the car when it arrives and write up the signage for it. Nothing is know about the car at all, not even a picture. This could be interesting........

I'm guessing that if they don't even have a picture, he doesn't know...

Correct, color is unknown. About this time of year cars begin to arrive for the Fall Benefit Auction as two have already come in. I though this SL would be for the auction, but the curator told me it was a very unexpected donation to the museum.

The policy at the museum is to never sell any of the collection......hmmmm...what if someone donated half a dozen Pontiac Aztecs? Or is that considered vandalism?

That would cause a random fire or something - this certain fire would only burn the azteks though. Insurance would buy it - they probably have tons of "self igniting pontiac azteks"

I though that was Ford's forte.

We don't need a fire there. The museum building is a historical landmark as it was built as the administration building for Auburn Automobile in 1929.

There is NATMUS (National Automotive *and* Truck MUSeum) behind the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum.

That car sounds too good for NATMUS. Call Blackhawk instead. See that trike in the back of the picture?

Looks like an outdated carriage. I see that the steering wheel is even missing. The Silverado could go there.
