Dang! Saw it on the evening news. Good thing they're putting that dog down, that was a serious attack. I guess that cat got some high speed claws into him. Bravo!

I’ve seen our cats take on a number of attackers. Cats are very protective of their family and fearless when doing so.

It is unfortunate that the dog's owner let the dog run free. I hope the dog's owner is attacked, so to speak by an attorney representing the child.

Saw that on Facebook yesterday. Cats don't seem to be intimidated by size when it comes to situations like that. That dog should be put down.

The story has it that the dog's owner was backing her car out of their gated yard and the dog got out. Not exactly allowing it to run free but some negligence nonetheless. Said the dog will be quarantined for 10 days then put down.

I did not know a cat would do that to protect a human.

When I was a kid our cat attacked a very large dog when she had kittens. She was a smallish cat and the dog was as big as a german shepard or so and she went after him and jumped right onto his head and rode him to our property line then jumped off.

Is Indiana a "stand your ground" state?

I think it is. Our state government is completely dominated by R's now so they are having their way with teachers, unions and other groups considered to not be their supporters.

The images appear to have been recorded by unmanned security cameras.

I was also surprised at the ferocity of the cats defense. I would never have imagined either of ours doing that but now, who knows? Looks to be a tragic accident but the dogs owner seems to be negligent in this case. I wonder if the dog had a history of viciousness.

My neighbors have a dog like that. They always let it out without a leash and it comes after you. I have kicked it a number of times, I can only imagine what it would do to a little kid...probably what this dog did.

It's amazing how the cat seems to fly through the air like it's been shot through a cannon or something. I'd read somewhere that house cats can run at up to 30 MPH -- now I believe it!

When my mother was growing up, her family had a cat named Mickey -- a big cat, 20 lbs. of muscle. He chased everything, including dogs. And everything ran. There was one time that a new cat in the neighborhood was spotted eating food from Mickey's food dish. Three days later, that cat was dead in a ditch. True story.

Thanks for posting, Diesel911! A friend of ours mentioned seeing this video, but couldn't remember the exact details.
