How low can they go?

Authorities say the vice chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party and two other men conspired with Clayton Kelly to photograph U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran's bedridden wife in her nursing home and create a political video against Cochran.

So tell me. Do you believe that this is typical of tea partiers? There are always wing nuts in any organization that do not represent the masses in the group. A good example would be the guy that defecated on a police car at one of the occupy Wall Street demonstrations.

BTW, I agree that is going way too far.

This conduct was asinine. I also think it should be a matter for a civil suit, not for felony criminal charges. We're not talking about violent crims here -- jailing them for a long time would serve little purpose.

No this is not typical of any party. It’s just astonishing the lengths people go when they know that they are right.

Yeah, some folks get into an "end justifies the means" mode.

Proof that there are asshats from all political leanings. I hope they sue the hell out of him.

It's a shame that in today's politics that there are no clear lines of decency...no respect at all.

You know that an act is pretty reprehensible when some try to trot out comparable acts by those on the other side of the political spectrum.

Two possible explanations:

A. A patriot, who when faced with trumped-up charges from the left, became a martyr.

B. An alleged criminal, who when faced with the possibility of legal consequences for his alleged criminal acts, took the coward's way out.

Which choice above most closely fits the circumstances at hand?

Just as a point of fact, there is no "Tea Party". There's a loose collection of people who share a common interest in smaller gov and lower taxes. Many of them bring other interests to the table.

C. "Suicide" was an awfully convenient way to keep him from turning state's evidence.

I like both choices, but why did you leave out the 'Obama did it' factor? It can't be a real political story unless 'Obama did it' is in there somewhere.

Short of that I would pick 'B', but Obama's name is going to be front and center here before long. It may be a long walk to get to it, but right wingers will find a way. Fund raising letter are very likely already in the mail.

After all, as every good right winger knows, never let a tragic event go to waste.
