A good second hand sub-frame is probably the most economical option.
Its unlikely a body shop would want the risk associated with welding it.
There are many people that can weld aluminum, not so many that would want to weld a component that is part of a front end, even less would be qualified to do it. Following welding there is a strong chance that the sub-frame will be weakened. What breaks next?

Is it an ARS car? They put incredible strain on the sway bar mounts. And they break often. Though I seem to recall seeing it on E65/E66's more.

We have a guy here who can repair such things, but one of the things I've always liked about him is that he will tell you honestly whether or not he thinks he can make it as good or better than it was, and whether this will be financially viable as well.

Getting back to my suggestion, I didn't suggest making a bad repair that is likely to fail. My suggestion of "the repair didn't happen" was more due to the risk of parasitic lawyers chasing after every possible lead if an accident happened in future, even if it was unrelated.

I've seen that with a cracked steel moto frame. Basically, the shop said that they would do the welding for cash, but they wouldn't make any guarantees or representations. I had them do the repair, and it lasted at least another few years, as long as I owned the bike.

If there was an accident do you suppose the person who hired you to fix it for cash would protect your identity? I don't think so, and since you were afraid it would not work and took cash secretly I doubt either the parasitic lawyer or the parasitic judge would go easy on you. (...and you would deserve it).

Keep a copy of the receipt to be show or burnt at will. The owner's word against yours.

If it were my personal car that I was keeping, I would weld it and see what happens.

If it were a customers car or a car I was selling, I'd only recommend replacing with a good used one.
