If you can't double clutch downshift there is literally no reason to drive it. There's an SLS roadster in the garage I've driven twice because I literally have no interest in automatic super cars. The engine is great, the car is lovely, but the transmission is the same as sticking a giant pile of Xanax between the engine and diff.

That's interesting, thanks. I forgot that the 2.6 190E only came along later in the life of the W201. I remember your username from way back, too.

I used to have a lot more spare time than I do now :/



I tried to find a couple of pics of the manual 'box in my car (since car is stored elsewhere) but could only find these, that aren't too good. I like a manual but have to say, the new generation automatics and dual clutches are very efficient and effective.
