The CBD area of New Orleans, LA.
Considering buying one or more parcels of commercial property located near the CBD in New Orleans, LA.
Anyone living near or in the vicinity of the CBD/French Quarter/Garden District/Uptown here on PeachParts? |

Well... that covers a lot of ground, as none of those border each other except the Quarters...
Are you looking at the Plaza Building? It can be had for a song and dance...

Wow. Interesting story about the Plaza Tower. I know it was offered for under a mil in 2011. Did anyone buy it, and has it been repaired and rehabbed?

Still vacant... not entirely sure, in the shell game of it's ownership, who owns it now. A group bought it for 583k back in 07, then I think it sold for 650k a couple years later. It's supposedly owned by a group called JSW, but who they are is not exactly clear. Bryan Burns is the name being bandied about currently....
Whoever they are, the owners have gotten an agreement to operate the parking garage to help offset costs, in exchange for submitting plans for full restoration within two years. I'm not going to hold my breath... I have seen signs of the parking garage being cleaned out and the driveway being patched...

Long ago I knew of the RE equivalent of some pump and dump schemes in the French Quarter. Those operators are still in business in NO but I have no current knowledge of their activities. There was a fortune in fried chicken. Value on books may be misleading. If there were easy dollars for the taking, likely dey would be took.
The RE market in NO changed tremendously when the World's Fair came to town and of course you know about the Bush clan RE bubble. It is now a casino town. |
