diesel marine conversion

I need a new diesel for my 41 foot sailboat. It has a Perkins 4.107. I would like to convert a engine from a 240d. The main problems in that type of conversion would be a wet exhaust manifold with a mixing elbow, and adapting to the borg warner velvet drive. Space requirements make the mb 4 banger ideal. Does anyone know of any resources for this?

Your going to spend alot of $$ on the MB coolant arn't you :):)?

Coolant not a problem

Most marine engines are conversions. The coolant is retained in a closed system that is cooled with raw water, I would use the same heat exchanger I am using for the 4-107. The 4.107 also uses a borg warner velvet drive. MB engines are around in larger sizes, 12 cyl are still around.

I have seen ads for sailboats with Mercedes diesels so the resources must be out there somewhere. I think there is a website called marinediesels.com that may be of help.
