Alcohol fired fireplace inserts?

I see they are making as noted above. Anybody have one? Wondering how long a four liter bottle lasts...is it a pain?

etc.

Is this what you are talking about. First time I've ever heard of one. Wonder how it would do on used motor oil?

At $25/gallon for the fuel, this is strictly for effect. Also, when you consider its low BTU value compared to kerosene or diesel fuel, it's a non-starter IMO.

I am shopping for a gas log fireplace to put in my carriage house.....heat is not a concern, just an enticing visual to help rent it.

Seems like there was an alcohol heater on a boat years ago. It was ok for occasional use in a small space. It might have been one of those pump up things like a coleman stove. I remember it was kinda on the fragile side, delicate valves and such.

I want to install a wood stove in our new place. I have a Stanley Waterford cookstove that has been in storage. Woodstoves were a good use of industry. It went downhill fast after that. Now we use people and love things. Stuff is valued and life is cheap.

I do not like the fact the fuel is odourless. Any spill may not be detected. I suppose you could add something to it.
