Used to have the same problem so put a Kevlar and nylon based liner between the tube and the outter part of the tire and another liner between the spokes and the tube. Also, when inflating make sure that the tube is not being pinched.

It is just punctures - there's a lot of building work going on in the neighbourhood so I'm probably picking up junk from that.

I've had 6 punctures in two weeks all on the back wheel. Tried new tyres and different inner tube brands - kind of exhausted the "solutions" here. The irritating thing is the front wheel has lots of age cracks and looks decidedly ropey and yet so far...

You ride a mountain bike around the neighborhood?

All of my city bikes have tough tires like Schwalbe Marathons with flat protection or Continental Gatorskins. Try those with a tire liner for extra protection.

X2 for gatorskins. I've used then for city riding and I don't think I've had a puncture ever. The contis on my road bike have held up very well too (supposedly have the same gator skin on tread area)

Yeah, an armored liner. We have lots of goatsheads around here. Liners are must have. Met a boy scout troop riding in on the trail to the dinosaur footprints along the Purgatoire river as we were riding out. It was late in the day and they'd been trying to make the 7 miles all day. Scoutmaster told me they'd had something lie 28 punctures so far that day. They had made no effort to protect their tires from the goats heads. Not much we could do to help.

Son the mt. biker reports that Slime is next to useless. It'll only seal the tiniest of punctures. No match for our killer goatheads.

Part of the problem is that the goathead stays in the puncture and slime can't stop that.

Those who have talked about liners are spot-on. I used to deal with this regularly when I lived on the Front Range and once I put in tire liners, the problems disappeared.

I had a similar problem couple years back when I was biking to work everyday. (before I got tired of being hit by cars)

Continuous flats because my route took me though some shady areas and construction, nails, glass, ect. I found and ordered some actual solid rubber tires as an experiment.
The ride was ..............interesting. However, that was the last of the flats until I got tired of the solid rubber. Dont take any corners too fast.

The studded winter bike tires gave a better ride than the solid rubber.

Did you check the rim for any burrs and the spoke nipps for any protruding spokes?

I have some sort of Plastic Shields on My own and My Wives Bike that go between the Tube and the Tire that are about 1/16" thick flexiable Plastic.
But, I thought that the Tube could be replaced by some sort of Foam that was made in the shape of the Tube.

I put the Foam thins In My Step Fathers Electric Wheel Chair Wheels. Not easy to insall but got them in.
Nothing like having a Flat Tire on an Elctric Wheel Chair and no way to change the Tire and being able to fix the Flat due to your lack of Mobility.
