General Motors recalls and problems

GM Recall - News & Top Stories, General Motors, Vehicle Recalls - NBC News

The recalls have caused a lot of problems across the board for not only GM, but other companies as well. Some of you may remember years ago, Ross Perot was brought in to try and "reform" General Motors. The arrogant GM board of directors didn't like Ross's belt tightening, efficiency based business model and moved to kick him out the door. You see Ross, we aren't going to give up our $70,000 annual heated and air conditioned garage for our board of director's personal cars. We aren't willing to cut any other unnecessary costs or ramp up quality and production either.

Years later, pay day comes due and owing. Due to their arrogant stupidity and refusal to adopt Ross's efficiency based business plan, they were forced to fly their Grumman Gulfstream business jet to Washington DC to beg for bail out money.

In business, there is something known as ROI (return on investment), it appears the government's bail out money didn't provide ROI. Now, the game has been reduced to a LOT of finger pointing.......

Has the government ever had good common sense when it comes to making investments??

However, despite the recalls and publicity, sales of GM products have not substantially suffered. They are up 1% in June compared to June 2013.

On Tuesday, G.M. again defied the negative publicity, announcing that its sales in June rose by 1 percent over the same month a year earlier, to 267,461 vehicles sold, and keeping pace with an overall strong industry performance.

The whole ignition switch problem is overblown, IMO. Regarding Ross Perot, he would have been good for the country, too. Too late now.

It's overblown unless it was you or a member of your family that died in a GM car. Then, it all becomes relevant.

That's probably what some Ford middle managers said about the Pinto gas tanks.

Pretty much every brand has had a recall or adverse publicity, yet consumers will still buy Audis, Toyotas, Firestone tires, salad greens in bags, dog treats from China . . .

I think it was firemen who said the Pinto gas tanks were overblown.

Have you even actually read what it is?

Morons put to much crap on their key chains and in .000001% of circumstances that can shut the vehicle off. The morons than drove into trees, or were doing someone already illegal so they couldn't recover...like doing 70 in a 25 zone stuff.

Its no different than the Toyota stuff.

Can't make life idiot proof. Imagine the death toll if people had to get around with Model T's!

I'm all for it. No electric starters or electric headlights or windshield wipers. Let the carnage begin.

Nobody minds if I sit home for the first couple months do they? I'll let the cream rise to the top before I jump in.

Six of the thirteen fatalities so far were drunk. The chances of being killed by a defective GM ignition switch pale when compared to meeting your maker at the hands of a drunk, drugged, unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered and illegal alien driver.
