Yeah, I understand, the smell is a little strong but the soap is fantastic. It washes off which is a good thing. If there's a soap of equal quality that has a sandlewood smell, i'd be all over it.

Why is the canned crap? You sure do have money! Silvertip badger is so expensive, and is it really worth it over best? Also, the Merkur Futur is expensive! I sure hope it doesn't turn into a hobby! I have enough already... I even now got into fountain pens which started with Oma's from high school. Ut oh... There is a connection! mytmousemalibu, thank you for the list! That is more than what I was looking for, especially from someone with sensitive skin, and much appreciated! I got a reply within an hour from Maggard's of which blades to use for sensitive skin. I saw Feather's was not recommended by you, so substituted your favorite and got Rapira Platinum. So, the sampler has five kinds with each five blades, so should last me a really long time, and for just over $10 with postage, way more affordable than the multi blades that only last a few shaves! I could only find Cremo Creme, and stupidly led Dad talk me out of it. Quote:
That is what I was wondering: how long these products last. So then, seems the soaps last the same or longer than canned? Quote:
Glad to hear I will love the Gillette! I used it with a rusty blade and loved the shave. Now that you taught me to shave down and not up, should also not be any nicks. I am so looking forward to how it will really feel with a sharp new blade. I did research, thus why I asked for it. I am itching to know too, but I am still waiting to get it. Now re-reading this, I am mad I didn't get the Cremo Cream, as wasn't sure how long it last and thought it might require a brush. Well, going back hopefully to that area, so if I do, will go back and get a tube.

I can't say enough about the Mystic Water sandalwood and sandalwood rose. Not sure if it's ok to link to her site, but Michelle-the owner-makes some amazing stuff. It gets lots of love on badgerandblade.com, too.

I'm just not a fan of canned goop anymore, not after using properly good shave soap. My skin feels better and soap lasts a lot longer! Stuff like the Arko sticks and Cremo, you don't need a brush. Rub some onto your face and keep rubbing around with a little water on your hand (I shave in the shower) and you will work up a nice lather. My sensitive skin likes nice natural ingredient artisan shave soaps used in conjunction with a good pre-shave oil or cream, it feels great. Not only is my skin sensitive and delicate but I also suffer from eczema on my face and all the chemicals in the canned goo bother my skin.
Me.....money.....errr....I wished! As far as brushes go, from the cheapest/coarse are the Boar hair brushes to the finest/softest Silver-tip badgers. Nice thing with the more coarse ones are they pick up shave soap very well and if you don't mind a bit more rough brush, they are great and generally cheaper. The Van Der Hagen carried at most drug/grocery stores/Walmart is decent as is the starter set. I started with one and it was fine, worked great but since I have pretty delicate skin, I wanted a badger. Next I bought a Parker pure badger grade brush, pretty nice! Fair bit softer but not silver-tip soft but the stiffer hairs lathered well. I used that quite a while and finally got me a Silver-tip, not a super expensive one but still softer yet, have to work it more to build lather but its all I use now. I love it! I may get a high-dollar one some day down the road. You can always get a cheaper brush and later pull the plug out and insert a new hair plug of your choice. There are always the synthetic hair brushes too. A new natural hair brush is always a bit smelly at first. Soaking in gently shampoo water helps but just use it and it will vanish quickly. For soaps and shaving stuff, I just shop online, local retailers here don't offer much. Like said, you can find Cremo Cream at grocery stores and Walmart. If you have any Mom & Pop stores or locally owned drug stores, might have a look, sometimes those places carry some stuff. I have been happy with the products & service from: West Coast Shaving, Wet Shaving and Luxury Grooming Products Italian Barber Online Shaving Supplies http://www.amazon.com/ -good for bulk blade shopping or specific items. The Futur is a fantastic razor, I really love it. I got turned on to it on Badger & Blade forum. Something else you might consider is getting an Alum bar of some kind. I have the RazoRock one and really like it. Check out the description RazoRock Alum Block With Plastic Travel Container

I have been extremely happy with feather, followed by Kai , and finally Gillette silver blue. Sharks are really sharp, but definitely a rough shave, Astra was a joke.

I need to pick up a brush , cup , & soap. I quit using the canned goop as it clogged the razor like crazy. For now , I use plain old bar soap in the shower. I also shave both ways. First pass is down , followed by up.

You since you guys like Feathers, you should really try Rapira Super Stainless! They are feather sharp but smoother shaving. Feathers would give me razor burn and irritation pretty bad, I want to like them but they didn't do it for me. A friend suggested Rapira's and I was so happy I tried them, I bought a lifetime supply! They are wonderful in every razor I put them in too. Pretty cheap too.

Had planned on it, but person that was going to buy my house couldn't get the loan. Still here in PA. My son threw a bit of a fit when we said we were moving back to Ohio, and said he didn't want to live anywhere near his mother, because he knew that visitation would start back up. We've since decided to stay here until after he graduates in two years.

Now, I just trim shave where necessary on the face, and the entire head. The only area on the head that is an issue is where the hair grows in a different direction, at the top of the sides. I can only get a perfectly smooth shave when I go 4 days between shaving. I'm still using Dollar Shave razors, and saving a good amount of money. Since I don't change blades weekly, I have a number of 5 pack of razors in reserve. My son wanted a handle so he could use them, and so did the wife, for her legs. I think I'll go another year before I tell them to stop sending blades...that should give me a few years worth of blades.

However, that is not a mustache, but a very amazing goatee. What made you decide to grow it? Really don't understand growing sideburns with a shaved head; to me they look lost, unconnected. But then, some day sooner than later, will be balding. As you can see, what I have is what I thought you had: a 'stache. Tried the Bolzano when I did the neck; didn't feel right. Used it on the other patch of hair, and left red marks with a few bleeders; don't think it helped that it was full winter growth. The worse was on my penis, but since don't partake in intercourse or masturbation, didn't bother me. When I did my cheeks to neaten up, used Gillette Silver, and not sure I like them. Do have a question: how does one not catch themselves on a mole or the laryngeal prominence? Found a light touch helps. Oh, by the way, did notice with a DE, one requires a much lighter touch than the multi blades. Being I have large diameter hair that grows along the skin, the DE does a much better job. Thank y'all! I belong to a dog owners training group that has about 98 percent women. Found out two women want me to clean up, and two others agree. Not shaving the 'stache, but trying to decide how much should go. What is the modern trend? The first picture is nothing done, then neck, then cheeks (can't find the one I was looking for).
