This smells more like Western propaganda. FGM is typically an African tribal tradition, not one that's common in Iraq. It's not prescribed by the Quran. Importing it would only alienate them -- it makes no sense to do so.

Yes, and some news media are questioning the UN 'statement'.

While a young guy I tried to do my share of encouraging it. I think I was far from alone in that regard.
